Petrina, Greece — Agricultural Cooperative of Petrina has been awarded a Silver at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Petrina brand.
Petrina is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity produced from Koroneiki olives. The oil is distinguished by fresh herbal tones, a green tea character and notes of grass, carried through to a black pepper finish.
The story of Agricultural Cooperative of Petrina began with the idea of a teacher in 1907 that, a few years later, led to the establishment of the first cooperative in Greece. In 1915, the idea took shape with the founding of the Agricultural Cooperative of Petrina, headquartered in the village of Petrina in the Municipality of Eastern Mani.
From its base at 220 meters above sea level on the eastern slopes of Taygetos, 35 kilometers south of Sparta and close to the port of Gytheio, Agricultural Cooperative of Petrina has remained rooted in a region shaped by altitude, terrain and longstanding agricultural traditions.
The Silver Award from NYIOOC places Petrina among the recognized extra virgin olive oils in the world’s leading quality contest. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Agricultural Cooperative of Petrina ranks #59 in Greece, #127 in the Northern Hemisphere and #128 Worldwide.
