Melipilla, Chile — Agroindustrial El Olivar de Llancay Ltda has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Huerto de los Olivos.
Huerto de los Olivos is an extra virgin olive oil of delicate intensity. Marked by unripe green fruitiness, the oil shows green almond and artichoke nuances, with herbs on the palate and a measured black pepper lift in the finish.
The Gold Award adds to a broader story rooted in a large-scale agricultural project launched in central Chile. In 2008, the Kassis and Said families founded La Reserva de Llancay, a 2,881-hectare olive-growing development near Melipilla, an area where difficult terrain and limited water posed early constraints. The initiative grew around a sustainability-focused model that preserved native vegetation, paired cultivation with an eco-friendly olive mill and relied on a 6.5-kilometer irrigation system drawing from the Maipo River.
Within that framework, Agroindustrial El Olivar de Llancay Ltda has combined technology and agronomic planning to support quality-driven production. The La Reserva de Llancay project reflects an approach that ties infrastructure investments to long-term farm management, including water delivery and processing decisions designed around safeguarding freshness and consistency.
The NYIOOC Gold places Huerto de los Olivos among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Agroindustrial El Olivar de Llancay Ltda is ranked #12 in Chile, #47 in the Southern Hemisphere and #129 Worldwide.
