Salento, Italy — Archidamo III has been awarded a Silver at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Archidamo brand.
Archidamo III produced Archidamo as a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil from Coratina, Leccino, Ogliarola and Cellina di Nardò olives. The blend is distinguished by a clean, herb-forward profile, with fresh notes of herbs and arugula that carry through to a balanced finish.
Archidamo III was founded in 2018 by Ernesto Buondonno and his two nephews, building on Buondonno’s transition from the legal profession to agriculture. A lawyer by training, Buondonno became an agricultural entrepreneur in 2000 and later helped establish Archidamo III to focus on organic Italian extra virgin olive oil while observing a policy centered on the secular Salentine olive-growing tradition, biodiversity conservation and the enhancement of the rural landscape and historical-architectural heritage.
The 2026 Silver continues a steady run of results for Archidamo III at the World Competition. Archidamo III has earned a total of eight NYIOOC awards to date, including five Gold and three Silver distinctions, with two Gold awards in 2022, two more Gold awards in 2023, one Gold award in 2024 and two Silver awards in 2021.
The latest result also supports Archidamo III’s standing in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where Archidamo III is ranked #51 in Italy, #94 in the Northern Hemisphere and #96 Worldwide.
