Croatia — Atelj Zagrad has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the AZ brand.
AZ is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, produced from a blend of Frantoio, Coratina, Leccino, Oblica and Pendolino. The oil is distinguished by a green, savory character, with arugula and herbs alongside ripe tomato and artichoke, building to a clean, balanced finish.
Atelj Zagrad ties its identity to a visual emblem: a pensive girl, partially leaning on an olive tree, seated atop a stylized Glagolitic letter AZ. The symbol reflects Atelj Zagrad’s connection to olive growing, rooted in history, tradition and family, and shaped by a stated commitment to preserving what has been inherited while remaining mindful of its fragility and looking to the future.
The 2026 Gold adds to Atelj Zagrad’s record at the competition. In total, Atelj Zagrad has earned two Gold Awards at NYIOOC, including a Gold in 2025.
In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Atelj Zagrad is ranked #35 in Croatia, #94 in the Northern Hemisphere and #98 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
