Olio Solum and Olio Solum Caninese earn Gold Awards, extending the Lazio producer’s long record of success at the world’s leading olive oil quality contest.

Tuscania, Italy — Azienda Agricola Gioacchini has been awarded two Gold Awards at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Olio Solum and Olio Solum Caninese.
Azienda Agricola Gioacchini earned a Gold for Olio Solum, a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil produced from a blend of cultivars. The producer also received a Gold for Olio Solum Caninese, a medium-intensity monovarietal made exclusively from Caninese olives.
Olio Solum and Olio Solum Caninese are distinguished by an almond-driven profile, with green almond and bitter almond nuances that underscore the oils’ fresh character and balance.
The 2026 results add to a long-standing competition record for Azienda Agricola Gioacchini at the NYIOOC, where the producer has now earned 13 Gold and three Silver Awards. Recent performance includes two Gold Awards in 2025; one Gold and one Silver in 2024; two Gold Awards in 2023; and two Gold Awards each year from 2020 through 2022, following earlier Silver Awards in 2019 and 2017.
Four generations of the Gioacchini family have worked the farm since the first olive trees were planted in the mid-twentieth century, expanding the grove over time while focusing on careful stewardship of the land. The farm is based in Lazio, in the territory of Tuscania, where olive trees grow across nearly 62 acres on gentle hills with soil rich in volcanic pumice, interspersed with pastureland.
In previous harvest campaigns, Gioacchini has described a methodical approach to timing and variety selection, planning to begin with Caninese for the monovarietal and then continuing with Leccino, Frantoio and Moraiolo for the blend. In a 2019 harvest update, the producer said: “After the last evaluations with our agronomist, we decided to start on October 7.”
As the broader Italian harvest has faced increasingly uneven conditions in recent years, the Gioacchini family has pointed to challenges that can reshape yields while leaving quality intact. In 2024, Antonio Gioacchini told Olive Oil Times: “The harvest did not go well in terms of volumes. We have seen a 60 to 70 percent drop,” adding, “Quality, on the other hand, is top-notch.”
The pair of Gold Awards at the 2026 NYIOOC places Azienda Agricola Gioacchini among Italy’s most consistently recognized producers. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Azienda Agricola Gioacchini is ranked #8 in Italy, #35 in the Northern Hemisphere and #36 Worldwide.
