Gaiole in Chianti, Italy — Badia a Coltibuono has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Badia a Coltibuono brand.
Badia a Coltibuono is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, produced from Leccino, Maurino, Pendolino, Leccio del Corno and Frantoio olives. The oil is distinguished by herbal notes and green almond, balanced by ripe olive character and a black-pepper bite on the finish.
The award adds to a growing competition record for Badia a Coltibuono at the NYIOOC. Overall, Badia a Coltibuono has earned two Gold Awards and two Silver Awards, including a Gold in 2023 and Silvers in 2024 and 2025.
Badia a Coltibuono traces its origins to 1058, when the estate was established as a monastery where monks cultivated vines and olives. Since 1846, the property has been tended by six generations of the Stucchi Rinetti family, maintaining agricultural traditions that have long defined the area.
In 1962, Piero Stucchi Prinetti recognized the potential of the estate’s extra virgin olive oil and approached production with the same rigor applied to fine wine. He focused on careful fruit selection and pressing immediately after harvest, a philosophy that continues to shape the identity of Badia a Coltibuono today through the handling of its olive varieties and attention to freshness.
The NYIOOC Gold places Badia a Coltibuono among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Badia a Coltibuono is tracked for its performance across the leading international competitions.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
