Çanakkale, Turkey — Bata Tarim ve Gida Urunleri has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Safitad Private Reserve brand.
Safitad Private Reserve is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, produced from the Domat cultivar. The oil is distinguished by bitter almond notes alongside the verdant lift of tomato leaf and a ripe green banana nuance that rounds out the finish.
Bata Tarim ve Gida Urunleri farms in a landscape defined by history and maritime geography, overlooking the ruins of Homer’s Troy and the entrance of the Dardanelles Straits. The area has been an olive-growing region for more than 3,000 years, a continuity Bata Tarim ve Gida Urunleri has tied to its modern production on a 150-hectare farm with more than 17,000 olive trees.
At Safitad, the groves are planted mainly to the Ayvalik cultivar, reflecting the broader tradition of the northern Aegean coast. While Safitad Private Reserve showcases Domat, the producer’s wider agricultural footprint and long-standing emphasis on quality have underpinned a steady presence at the NYIOOC.
The 2026 Gold adds to a consistent competition record for Bata Tarim ve Gida Urunleri. Across its full NYIOOC history, the producer has earned six Gold and three Silver awards, bringing its total to nine. The results include a Silver in 2020, a Gold and Silver in 2021, Gold awards in 2022 and 2023, a Gold and Silver in 2024, and a Gold in 2025.
The latest recognition also strengthens Bata Tarim ve Gida Urunleri’s standing in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where the producer is ranked #3 in Turkey, #57 in the Northern Hemisphere and #60 Worldwide.
Safitad was previously cited among Turkish producers earning acclaim at the NYIOOC, as olive oil makers across the country used international competition results to distinguish individually packaged oils in an increasingly competitive marketplace. In that context, the continued success of Safitad at the NYIOOC has helped reinforce the producer’s focus on quality as it competes alongside a growing field of award-winning Turkish brands.
