Trás-os-Montes, Portugal — Casa de Santo Amaro has been awarded three Gold Awards and one Silver Award at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, adding to a long-running record of international recognition.
At the 2026 competition, Casa de Santo Amaro earned Gold Awards for Casa de Santo Amaro Prestige (Medium), Casa de Santo Amaro Grande Escolha (Medium) and Casa de Santo Amaro Premium (Robust), alongside a Silver Award for In Memoriam Olival do Pomar Organic (Medium). The results highlight the breadth of styles Casa de Santo Amaro submitted this year, from medium-intensity expressions through a more forceful robust oil.
In Memoriam Olival do Pomar Organic, a medium extra virgin olive oil, is produced from Madural and shows a profile shaped by green, savory sensations, marked by herbaceous notes, vegetable tones and a radish-like bite, followed by spice and an arugula-like lift.
The three Gold-winning oils underscore Casa de Santo Amaro’s range across cultivars and blends. Casa de Santo Amaro Prestige, a medium blend, was recognized with a Gold Award, while Casa de Santo Amaro Grande Escolha also received a Gold Award in the medium category. Casa de Santo Amaro Premium, produced from Cobrancosa, secured a Gold Award in the robust category.
Casa de Santo Amaro’s award-winning performance comes as producers across Portugal have continued to emphasize quality even amid difficult seasons. In a 2024 Olive Oil Times report on Portuguese producers, co-owner António Pavão attributed Casa de Santo Amaro’s strong results to the effort behind harvesting healthy fruit and producing immediately in the mill, even when output was reduced and costs rose. “These three Gold Awards and two Silver Awards are the result of a huge effort by all the Casa de Santo Amaro team, which works daily to make this recognition possible,” said António Pavão, co-owner of Casa de Santo Amaro. “I believe that these awards are very important for our company and have an important impact on the notoriety of all Portuguese olive oils.”
On its farm in northern Portugal, Casa de Santo Amaro oversees the full chain, from cultivation through packaging. “Our olives are grown, harvested, processed, stored and packaged exclusively on our farm,” the producer said. “We do this to ensure that a high-quality, pure oil made from fresh and healthy olive fruits goes directly from our farm to your table. It is the only way we know.”
With the 2026 results, Casa de Santo Amaro’s cumulative NYIOOC record stands at 33 awards overall, comprising 21 Gold Awards and 12 Silver Awards. The producer has been recognized repeatedly in recent seasons, including three Gold Awards in 2023, five awards in 2024 (three Gold and two Silver) and three awards in 2025 (two Gold and one Silver).
In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Casa de Santo Amaro is ranked #2 in Portugal, #10 in the Northern Hemisphere and #11 Worldwide.
