Sacramento Valley, United States — Cobram Estate (US) has been awarded a Silver at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Cobram Estate Mission brand.
Cobram Estate Mission is a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil made from Mission olives. Cobram Estate Mission shows a savory edge, moving from ripe tomato and fresh herbs into arugula and a building spice, with black pepper carrying through the finish.
In the 2026 results, Cobram Estate (US) earned additional recognition across its portfolio, including a Gold for Cobram Estate California Select, a medium-intensity blend. Cobram Estate (US) also received Silver Awards for Cobram Estate Picual, a medium-intensity Picual; Cobram Estate Coratina, a medium-intensity Coratina; Cobram Estate Everyday Essentials Robust, a medium-intensity Coratina; and Cobram Estate Everyday Essentials Classic, a delicate Arbequina.
Cobram Estate (US) traces its origins to Australia, where founders Rob McGavin and Paul Riordan set out to produce high-quality extra virgin olive oil before expanding to the United States in 2014. The decision to establish operations in California’s Sacramento Valley reflected an effort to translate that experience to a region with fertile soils and a Mediterranean climate suited to olive growing.
Cobram Estate (US) has continued to broaden its California footprint in recent years. Formerly known as Boundary Bend, Cobram Estate Olives first established California operations in 2015, building milling, bottling and storage facilities and offices before expanding grove holdings. In 2021, Cobram Estate became the second-largest medium-density olive grove planter in the United States. Cobram Estate said it produced 3 million liters of olive oil in California during the 2025/26 crop year and held commercial agreements to purchase an additional 800,000 liters throughout the season.
The current scale of Cobram Estate (US) has also been a defining feature of its approach to sourcing and growth in the state. As California’s competition for olives intensified during the last decade, the company was among the best-capitalized entrants seeking to secure fruit as demand for domestically produced extra virgin olive oil increased.
The 2026 NYIOOC results add to a long competition record for Cobram Estate (US), which has earned 34 awards overall, including 13 Gold and 21 Silver distinctions. Recent results include three Silver Awards in 2025 and three Gold Awards in 2024, along with awards in each of the years from 2017 through 2023 listed in the company’s NYIOOC history.
The 2026 performance also strengthens Cobram Estate (US) in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where Cobram Estate (US) is ranked #6 in the United States, #14 in the Northern Hemisphere and #15 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
