Madrid, Spain — Deoleo Global has been awarded two Gold Awards at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Carbonell Magna Oliva and Bertolli Black Label.
Deoleo Global earned Gold for Carbonell Magna Oliva, an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity distinguished by herbaceous notes alongside impressions of radish, olive leaf and arugula, with ripe notes rounding out the profile. Deoleo Global also secured a Gold Award for Bertolli Black Label, another medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil, reinforcing the breadth of Deoleo Global’s award-winning portfolio at the world competition.
Deoleo Global is a Spanish food group listed on the Spanish stock market and the world leader in sales of bottled olive oil. The group’s scale has made it a bellwether for the category, and Deoleo Global’s leadership has repeatedly emphasized the importance of rebuilding consumer confidence in olive oil quality and consistency.
In 2018, Pierluigi Tosato, then executive chairman of Deoleo, S.A., told industry stakeholders that the olive oil sector’s business model was “broken,” arguing that weak consumer trust, the use of olive oil as a loss leader in retail and the lack of unified standards were undermining value. Speaking at a conference near Chicago, Tosato called for the industry to converge around clearer global rules and defended the role of organoleptic assessment in certifying quality, while also urging incentives for earlier harvesting and better fruit quality as part of a roadmap to strengthen the category.
The 2026 results add to Deoleo Global’s established track record at the NYIOOC. Across its full competition history, Deoleo Global has earned 13 Gold and two Silver Awards, including two Gold Awards in 2025, two Gold Awards in 2023, one Gold and one Silver in 2022, two Gold and one Silver in 2020, one Gold in 2019 and three Gold Awards in 2018.
The two 2026 Gold Awards place Deoleo Global among the highest-performing producers in Spain. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Deoleo Global is ranked #12 in Spain, #45 in the Northern Hemisphere and #47 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world’s leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
