Umbria, Italy — Farchioni Olii has been awarded two Gold Awards and a Silver Award at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, with accolades for Olivicoltura Eroica, DOP Umbria Colli Martani and Collezione di Famiglia.
In the 2026 results, Farchioni Olii earned a Gold Award for Olivicoltura Eroica, a robust monovarietal made from Frantoio olives. Farchioni Olii also won a Silver Award for DOP Umbria Colli Martani, a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil crafted from Frantoio, Leccino, Moraiolo and San Felice. The trio was completed by Collezione di Famiglia, which received a Gold Award for a robust Frantoio monovarietal.
Farchioni Olii has built its identity around Umbrian origin and a long-running agricultural tradition that the company traces to 1780. Born and bred in Umbria, Farchioni Olii works to transform local olives into products positioned around quality, linking present-day production to a story it says it has been telling daily for more than two centuries.
DOP Umbria Colli Martani stood out in the 2026 competition with an aromatic profile that leans into green sensations, distinguished by notes of artichoke and arugula that suit its medium intensity. With Frantoio alongside Leccino, Moraiolo and San Felice, the blend reflects the cultivar mix associated with the DOP Umbria Colli Martani designation.
Beyond its competition results, Farchioni Olii has also drawn attention for how it frames sustainability within its operations. In 2022, Farchioni Olii became the first major Italian olive oil company to have its sustainability report—based on United Nations standards—certified, highlighting energy-saving efforts, renewable energy solutions and worker safety initiatives. In an earlier interview with Olive Oil Times, Marco Farchioni, the company’s export manager, emphasized resource efficiency as a guiding principle for the business.
Farchioni Olii has also been cited in broader industry discussions about the role of extra virgin olive oil as a raw ingredient beyond the bottle. In 2024, Donato Palancia, an oleologist and olive oil technician at Farchioni Olii, described how rising extra virgin olive oil prices have influenced food-preservation businesses that traditionally relied on it for sottoli, the longstanding southern Italian practice of preserving vegetables in oil.
The 2026 performance adds to Farchioni Olii’s established record at the NYIOOC. Across its full competition history, Farchioni Olii has earned 28 awards, including 21 Gold Awards and seven Silver Awards. Recent results include three Gold Awards in 2025, three Gold Awards in 2024, two Gold Awards and one Silver Award in 2023, three Gold Awards in 2022, two Gold Awards and one Silver Award in 2021, three Gold Awards in 2020, two Gold Awards and two Silver Awards in 2019, and one Gold Award and two Silver Awards in 2018.
The 2026 wins also reinforce Farchioni Olii’s standing among the most successful producers in the competition’s results tables. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Farchioni Olii is ranked #4 in Italy, #16 in the Northern Hemisphere and #17 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world’s leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
