Bolgheri, Italy — Fonte di Foiano has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Chic Italia Classic White.

Fonte di Foiano produced Chic Italia Classic White from Leccio del Corno olives, crafting an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity. The profile opens on unripe green fruit and green tea nuances, carried by green almond and arugula tones and finishing with a measured black pepper kick.

The award adds to a longstanding project rooted in the Bolgheri countryside. In 1979, Michele Di Gaetano and his wife, Marina, chose the coastal Tuscan area to pursue their goal of restoring centuries-old olive groves, planting new ones and building an olive mill. Today, Paolo, Simone and Beatrice guide the company’s work with a focus on raising standards across cultivation and processing.

The olive grove spans 30 hectares and comprises approximately 10,000 trees. Planted at elevations ranging from 10 to 150 meters above sea level, the groves benefit from an ideal microclimate that supports careful ripening and harvest timing for oils intended to preserve freshness and balance.

The NYIOOC Gold places Chic Italia Classic White among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Fonte di Foiano is ranked #80 in Italy, #127 in the Northern Hemisphere and #129 Worldwide.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
