Montalcino, Italy — Frantoio di Montalcino has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Brunera.
Brunera is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, distinguished by a savory thread of artichoke and green tomato, layered with tomato and tomato leaf aromatics and finished with a measured peppery bite. Careful processing preserves the oil’s freshness and balance, underscoring the character associated with central Italy’s olive-growing landscapes.
Established in 2023, Frantoio di Montalcino was formed by experienced olive oil makers and investors who set out to modernize local milling capacity while respecting established practices. The team renovated a 75-year-old mill in Montalcino, converting it into an updated facility designed to combine tradition with modern milling technology. Additional information about Frantoio di Montalcino is available on the Frantoio di Montalcino website.
The 2026 Gold continues Frantoio di Montalcino’s consistent performance at the competition. Across its NYIOOC participation, Frantoio di Montalcino has earned three Gold Awards, following Gold recognitions in 2024 and 2025.
The result places Frantoio di Montalcino among Italy’s most successful producers in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where it is ranked #42 in Italy, #82 in the Northern Hemisphere and #84 Worldwide.
