Vatica, Greece — Laconian Legacy has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Laconian Legacy brand.

Laconian Legacy is a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil made from Athinolia olives. The oil is distinguished by a fresh herbal character, green almond notes and ripe olive richness, finishing with a measured black pepper warmth. Hand-harvesting in October, careful collection in special boxes and milling within eight hours are central to preserving the oil’s balance and clarity.

Laconian Legacy traces its roots to Vatica in Laconia, where the family’s olive groves shape both the agricultural approach and the sensory identity of the oil. The producer’s emphasis on rapid processing and current research into the benefits of high-quality food reflects an ambition to make extra virgin olive oil a daily staple rather than a special-occasion ingredient. Through Laconian Legacy, the producer has focused on translating a demanding landscape into a consistent, high-quality product.

The 2026 Gold continues a steady record at the competition for Laconian Legacy. Across six total awards at NYIOOC, Laconian Legacy has earned four Golds and two Silvers, with previous recognitions including a Gold in 2025, Silver awards in 2024 and 2023, and Gold awards in 2022 and 2021.

The NYIOOC Gold places Laconian Legacy among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Laconian Legacy is ranked #15 in Greece, #71 in the Northern Hemisphere and #72 Worldwide.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world’s leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
