Lakonia, Greece — Laconiko has been awarded two Gold and two Silver Awards at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, led by a Silver Award for Laconiko Kambos.

"In the most challenging harvests we have faced in the last 10 years, shaped by relentless and unforgiving weather, having our olive oils recognized consistently in the most prestigious olive oil competition, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, is deeply meaningful to us. It stands as a true testament to our dedication, resilience, and commitment to producing the absolute best olive oil possible for our Laconiko family, no matter the conditions or obstacles.," said Diamantis Pierrakos, Co-producer/owner at Laconiko.

Laconiko earned Silver Awards for Laconiko Kambos and Laconiko, both medium-intensity Koroneiki monovarietals. The producer also secured Gold Awards for Laconiko ZOI, a medium-intensity monovarietal made from Kalamata olives, and Olio Nuovo Reserve, a medium-intensity Koroneiki.

Across the award-winning set, the medium style is carried by flavors that lean fresh and savory, with herb-driven aromatics and a peppery edge. Laconiko Kambos unfolds with notes that recall herbs and arugula, with touches of chicory and radish on the finish, a profile that reflects the producer’s emphasis on freshness and balance in its Koroneiki oils.

The quartet of awards adds to a long record of results for Laconiko at the World Competition. Since first entering, Laconiko has earned 29 NYIOOC awards overall, including 16 Gold Awards and 13 Silver Awards. Recent showings include four awards in both 2025 and 2024, and three Gold Awards in 2023.

The Pierrakos family has helped transform Laconiko from a multigenerational farming livelihood into an enterprise focused on producing and distributing extra virgin olive oil under a set of stated values centered on respectful and ethical representation of the family name, reflected in the work behind each release. Over the years, Laconiko has also been candid about the practical challenges facing growers in Greece, including the compounding effects of warmer conditions and volatile seasons, and has emphasized that targeted changes in grove management can help mitigate some impacts.

The 2026 results further strengthen Laconiko’s standing among the most consistently awarded producers in the competition. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Laconiko is ranked #2 in Greece, #20 in the Northern Hemisphere and #21 Worldwide.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
