Castro del Río, Spain — Luque Ecologico has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Luque Ecologico brand.
Luque Ecologico is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, made from Hojiblanca olives. Marked by fresh green fruit character, Luque Ecologico is distinguished by crisp notes of lettuce and tomato leaf, green tomato and green almond, with a peppery lift that builds through the finish.
Founded as a family-owned and operated project by Jose Antonio Luque, Luque Ecologico produces extra virgin olive oil using organic farming methods in Castro del Río, in the heart of Andalusia. Through seven generations, the Luque family has grown olive trees in the area, cultivating and harvesting fruit from family-run groves.
The 2026 Gold adds to a substantial record at the World Olive Oil Competition. Luque Ecologico has earned a total of ten awards at the NYIOOC, including six Gold and four Silver distinctions, with wins spanning from 2016 through 2024.
The latest award further elevates Luque Ecologico’s standing in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where Luque Ecologico is ranked #34 in Spain, #87 in the Northern Hemisphere and #89 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
