Monte do Camelo wins 2026 NYIOOC Gold for Tratturo* de Fronteira

The Portuguese producer earned a Gold Award in New York for a medium-intensity Galega extra virgin olive oil from Alto Alentejo.

Fronteira, Portugal — Monte do Camelo has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Tratturo* de Fronteira brand.

Tratturo* de Fronteira is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, crafted from Galega olives. Produced in Alto Alentejo, the oil is distinguished by fresh herbal tones alongside notes reminiscent of grass and radish, a profile that reflects careful orchard management and meticulous milling.

Monte do Camelo operates as a ten-hectare farm in Alto Alentejo. The farm cultivates Portuguese varieties, including Galega and Cobrançosa, and applies regenerative agriculture principles across its groves. With a private mill equipped with modern technology, Monte do Camelo oversees processing from harvest through extraction, aiming to maintain quality control at each stage.

With the 2026 Gold, Monte do Camelo has continued a steady record at the NYIOOC. Across its full competition history, Monte do Camelo has earned three Gold and two Silver awards, including Golds in 2025 and 2023 and Silvers in 2024 and 2022.

The NYIOOC Gold places Tratturo* de Fronteira among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Monte do Camelo is ranked #11 in Portugal, #74 in the Northern Hemisphere and #78 Worldwide.
