Lasithi, Greece — Mourello has been awarded a Silver at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Vedema brand.

Vedema is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, produced from the Kolireiki cultivar. The oil is distinguished by herbaceous notes alongside olive leaf and ripe olive character, with black pepper emerging on the finish and a darker, black-olive nuance adding depth.

Mourello is led by Maria Marnellou, who was born in Lasithi, a territory in Crete where traditional farming has long shaped local food culture. Raised with Cretan cuisine, she draws on the island’s culinary traditions, rooted in the Mediterranean diet, to guide her selection of products and her focus on authenticity and purity.

The 2026 Silver adds to Mourello’s record at the NYIOOC, bringing its overall results to one Gold and two Silver awards. Mourello previously earned a Silver in 2025 and a Gold in 2022.

In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Mourello is ranked #29 in Greece, #89 in the Northern Hemisphere and #92 Worldwide.
