Ljubuški, Bosnia and Herzegovina — Murić has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Bošnjak brand.
Bošnjak is a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil, distinguished by a fresh arugula note that underscores its green character. The award adds to a growing record of success for Murić at the world competition, bringing the producer’s overall NYIOOC tally to two Gold Awards across two total entries.
Murić traces its modern olive-growing story to 2009, when the producer planted 4,500 olive trees across 20 hectares in Ljubuški. The grove is planted largely with Italian varieties, including Leccino, Frantoio and Coratina, alongside Istarska Bjelica, a local Croatian variety. Murić has attributed the consistent quality of its oils to the special care and maintenance provided to the olive trees, focusing on orchard practices that support healthy fruit and reliable results.
Bošnjak’s recognition comes as olive growing in Herzegovina continues to gain momentum, with more producers investing in modern cultivation and quality-focused practices. In recent years, the region has drawn increased attention as local growers have expanded plantings and sought to position Herzegovina as a serious source of high-quality extra virgin olive oil.
The 2026 NYIOOC Gold also places Murić among the leading producers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Murić is ranked #5 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, #94 in the Northern Hemisphere and #98 Worldwide.
