Vieste, Italy — Oleificio F.lli Vieste has been awarded a Silver at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Aurea.

Aurea is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, made from Coratina and Ogliarola Garganica. The blend is distinguished by herbaceous notes, a hint of chicory and a bitter almond sensation that lingers on the palate, reflecting a style rooted in Apulia’s native varieties.

Oleificio F.lli Vieste traces its origins back five generations. The family’s early commitment to the indigenous Ogliarola Garganica cultivar began when their great-grandfather Giacomo set aside nearly 40 hectares between the sea and the forest to establish groves, a decision that anchored the farm’s identity in a variety closely associated with the Gargano area.

The modern chapter took shape in 1985, when the business shifted from local production and sales toward international growth. In that transition, grandfather Raffaele passed on lands and long-tended olive trees to his sons, Giacomo and Pasquale, consolidating a family approach that remains focused on safeguarding established groves while bringing their oils to a broader market.

Oleificio F.lli Vieste has also built recent recognition at the NYIOOC through its work with early-harvested fruit, including a blend of Coratina and Ogliarola Garganica that earned a Silver Award at the 2025 competition. The 2026 Silver for Aurea continues that trajectory, adding to a NYIOOC record that now totals three awards: one Gold and two Silver.

The 2026 NYIOOC result also strengthens Oleificio F.lli Vieste’s standing in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where the producer is ranked #42 in Italy, #84 in the Northern Hemisphere and #86 Worldwide.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
