Santanyí, Spain — Oli de Santanyi S.L. has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Oli de Santanyi brand.

Oli de Santanyi is a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil made from Arbequina, Picual and Empeltre. Marked by an artichoke-forward character and a bitter almond edge, the blend reflects careful fruit selection and an approach that prioritizes freshness and stability.

On Mallorca’s southeastern coast, olive groves near the Mondragó National Park benefit from a local microclimate that supports organic cultivation. Oli de Santanyi S.L. has developed an organic extra virgin olive oil program that combines agronomic expertise with modern processing, aligning orchard practices and milling decisions with a focus on quality. Oli de Santanyi S.L. is certified organic and carries the seal of the Mallorca PDO.

In previously reported remarks to Olive Oil Times, founder Dirk Müller-Busch described an early-harvest strategy aimed at capturing the olives’ highest concentration of beneficial compounds at the start of ripening. He also pointed to the practical challenges of harvesting in Mallorca’s late-September heat, when temperatures can still reach 30 ºC, and the need for technical measures to protect fruit quality before extraction.

Oli de Santanyi S.L. has emphasized temperature management throughout production, cooling freshly picked olives before milling and maintaining controlled conditions during extraction. The milling configuration, developed with input from specialists, is designed to limit oxidation by reducing exposure to air and avoiding added water. After extraction, the oil is filtered twice, a step intended to support stability, even as it reduces overall yield.

The 2026 Gold adds to Oli de Santanyi S.L.’s established record at the NYIOOC. The producer’s competition history now stands at four Gold Awards, with additional Golds recorded in 2024, 2023 and 2020.

The NYIOOC Gold places Oli de Santanyi among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Oli de Santanyi S.L. is ranked #51 in Spain, #111 in the Northern Hemisphere and #113 Worldwide.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
