Sapina Doca, Croatia — OPG Ercegović Željko has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Suran Oblica brand.
Suran Oblica is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, produced from the Oblica cultivar. Marked by a fresh green character, Suran Oblica is distinguished by artichoke and herbs with a lively arugula note, finishing with black pepper. Early hand-harvesting and prompt milling help preserve aromatics while balancing bitterness and spiciness.
OPG Ercegović Željko is a sixth-generation family farm in Sapina Doca, Rogoznica, in the Dalmatia region. The farm tends 450 olive trees, predominantly Oblica, alongside Lastovka and Levantinka, on rocky karst terrain that shapes the intensity and character of its extra virgin olive oils.
The 2026 NYIOOC Gold places Suran Oblica among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, OPG Ercegović Željko is #55 in Croatia, #126 in the Northern Hemisphere and #128 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world’s leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
