Dalmatia, Croatia — OPG Ivica Kapitanović has been awarded a Silver at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Camino brand.
Camino is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, produced from a blend of Coratina, Leccino, Oblica and Frantoio. Distinguished by fresh notes of grass and herbs, the oil carries a ripe tomato character that adds depth and balance. Hand-harvested fruit picked at peak ripeness and cold-pressed within hours help preserve Camino’s vibrant flavors and natural nutrients.
Founded on the Kapitanović family farm, OPG Ivica Kapitanović emphasizes careful fieldwork and swift milling to protect quality from grove to bottle. The Kapitanović family also relies on organic farming practices aimed at enriching the soil and limiting environmental impact, tying production to both local conditions and long-standing agricultural knowledge.
The 2026 Silver builds on OPG Ivica Kapitanović’s established record at the NYIOOC. The producer has earned two awards overall, including a Gold in 2025, reflecting consistent performance across editions of the world’s largest olive oil quality contest.
The NYIOOC Silver places Camino among the world’s recognized extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, OPG Ivica Kapitanović is ranked #34 in Croatia, #93 in the Northern Hemisphere and #97 Worldwide.
