Trogir, Croatia — OPG Velaga has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Velaga Blend brand.
Velaga Blend is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, distinguished by a green, lively character that moves from unripe fruit notes into a balanced bitterness and peppery lift. Aromas and flavors recall walnut and green almond, with eucalyptus freshness and a savory edge reminiscent of arugula.
There are olive-growing regions that were born on the slopes by the sea, and there are also those that were created through perseverance, as if carved by the hands of ancestors. OPG Velaga's olive grove belongs to the latter. The centuries-old tradition of hardworking farmers is blended into every drop of extra virgin olive oil, with olive trees growing in a peaceful setting in Trogir, Dalmatia.
The NYIOOC Gold places Velaga Blend among the world's elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, OPG Velaga is ranked #54 in Croatia, #124 in the Northern Hemisphere and #128 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
