Jaén, Spain — Pago de Espejo SL has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Pago de Espejo Picual brand.
Pago de Espejo Picual is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, made exclusively from the Picual cultivar. The oil is distinguished by fresh green tomato character alongside crisp apple notes, a profile that underscores careful fruit selection and precise milling aimed at preserving aromatic clarity.
The roots of Pago de Espejo SL trace back to a decision made around 1920, when the family’s great-grandmother, Damiana, committed to the promise of a particular piece of land. Today, Pago de Espejo SL continues to frame that early conviction as the foundation of its work, with each bottle positioned as a continuation of Damiana’s vision and the efforts that followed.
According to the producer, the project is now led by the fourth generation of Espejo’s women, who emphasize tradition, love and design in the making of their extra virgin olive oil.
The NYIOOC Gold places Pago de Espejo Picual among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Pago de Espejo SL ranks #67 in Spain, #125 in the Northern Hemisphere and #129 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world’s leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
