Makrisia, Greece — Papa Spyros Olive Oil has been awarded a Silver at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Papa Spyros Olive Oil.

Papa Spyros Olive Oil is an extra virgin olive oil of delicate intensity, milled from Koroneiki olives. The oil is distinguished by fresh herbal notes and olive leaf, rounded out by ripe apple. Careful handling of fruit and controlled processing help preserve the oil’s aromatics and balance.

The Koroneiki olives that comprise Papa Spyros Olive Oil originate from trees harvested by the Giannopoulos family for over five generations and are grown in Makrisia, a small town in the western region of Peloponnesus. Through this long continuity of cultivation and harvest, the Giannopoulos family has maintained a close relationship with the groves that define Papa Spyros Olive Oil’s origin.

The 2026 Silver builds on Papa Spyros Olive Oil’s record at the competition, bringing the producer’s NYIOOC history to three Silver Awards overall.

The result also strengthens Papa Spyros Olive Oil’s position in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where Papa Spyros Olive Oil is ranked #31 in Greece, #93 in the Northern Hemisphere and #94 Worldwide.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
