Portugal — Pereira & Fragoso has been awarded two Silvers at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Herdade da Bica.
Pereira & Fragoso received a Silver Award for Herdade da Bica, a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil produced from Frantoio olives, and a second Silver Award for Herdade da Bica, also medium in intensity, produced from Cobrancosa.
Across both award-winning expressions, Herdade da Bica is distinguished by savory notes of artichoke and olive leaf, with the medium profile reinforcing the oil’s green character and clean, structured palate.
Olive oil mills have been part of my family for generations: my great-grandfather, grandfather, father, and now me, said Pereira & Fragoso. I grew up helping at the mill, surrounded by the aroma of fresh olive oil. Although I chose another career, my roots called me back. Today, I fulfill my dream of owning my own mill and brand, supported by my wife and children, living close to nature and producing excellent extra virgin olive oil.
The two Silver Awards place Herdade da Bica among the recognized extra virgin olive oils in this year’s competition. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Pereira & Fragoso is ranked #32 in Portugal, #126 in the Northern Hemisphere and #128 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
