Val d’Orcia, Italy — Pometti di Pometti Carlotta has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for L'Olio Bio.

L'Olio Bio is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, crafted from Leccino, Moraiolo and Pendolino olives. The oil is distinguished by fresh herb notes alongside arugula and artichoke, with a walnut-like nuance that adds depth through the finish.

Pometti di Pometti Carlotta has built its olive oil project in the Tuscan hills of the Val d’Orcia near Siena, where the family has invested in strengthening quality and sustainability across its groves. According to an Olive Oil Times producer profile, L'Olio Bio is produced from roughly 1,500 olive trees scattered across the countryside, and recent seasons have seen the farm revamp production processes while integrating modern tools directly in the groves.

The family’s approach has centered on organic agriculture and a belief that environmental stewardship is inseparable from making first-quality products. Pometti di Pometti Carlotta has emphasized the importance of allowing the land to rest and follow natural rhythms, describing a three-year transition to organic agriculture as a key step in unlocking the potential of the estate.

In the Val d’Orcia, Pometti di Pometti Carlotta has also explored how traditional orchard designs can support long-term tree health and resilience. In the 2024 profile, the farm described plans for a three-hectare expansion using wider spacing between trees, an older regional setup the estate sees as consistent with a regenerative approach aimed at soil health and biodiversity, while also reducing pressure from pests and pathogens by improving airflow and limiting competition for resources.

The Gold Award in 2026 adds to a consistent run of results for Pometti di Pometti Carlotta at the NYIOOC. The producer’s competition record now stands at four Gold Awards overall, including Golds in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The 2026 recognition places Pometti di Pometti Carlotta among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Pometti di Pometti Carlotta is ranked #35 in Italy, #76 in the Northern Hemisphere and #80 Worldwide.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
