Umbria, Italy — Rastrello has been awarded a Silver at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Rastrello Blend brand.

Rastrello Blend is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, distinguished by fresh arugula character alongside leafy and grassy aromatics. Produced in Umbria’s Trasimeno hills, the oil reflects an approach centered on careful grove management and attention to freshness from harvest through extraction.

Rastrello is a family-run farm in Umbria with a grove of about 2,000 trees, most of them more than 400 years old. The farm manages its orchards with no-till practices and without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, and is certified organic as well as PDO Umbria, Colle del Trasimeno.

Rastrello’s 2026 Silver adds to a consistent record of recognition at the competition. Across its full NYIOOC history, Rastrello has earned 10 awards, including six Gold and four Silver distinctions, with awards spanning multiple harvests from 2020 through 2025.

In earlier seasons, the Wassmann family has emphasized that quality begins in the grove, with agronomic decisions aimed at preserving tree health and fruit integrity, particularly as producers in central Italy adapt to shifting weather patterns. Like many growers across Italy, Rastrello has navigated the pressures of climate extremes and pests while continuing to focus on disciplined fieldwork and timely milling as the foundation for high-quality extra virgin olive oil.

The 2026 NYIOOC result places Rastrello among the top-performing producers in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where Rastrello is ranked #20 in Italy, #56 in the Northern Hemisphere and #58 Worldwide.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
