Madrid, Spain — Roots and Joy has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for the Roots and Joy Premium brand.
Roots and Joy Premium is an extra virgin olive oil of medium intensity, produced from Picual olives. The oil is distinguished by herbaceous aromas and a bright green character, with green pepper and arugula emerging alongside artichoke and a radish-like bite that carries into a clean, persistent finish.
Since 2021, Roots and Joy has produced its own olive oil and brought it to Germany. In 2024, Roots and Joy founded the Roots and Joy brand, taking responsibility for each step of production, from sourcing early-harvest olives to overseeing cold extraction. Roots and Joy bottles the oil fresh, with close attention to handling and timing intended to preserve purity, intensity and full flavor.
The 2026 Gold builds on Roots and Joy’s track record at the NYIOOC. Roots and Joy has earned two awards overall, comprising one Gold and one Silver, after receiving a Silver in 2025.
The NYIOOC Gold places Roots and Joy Premium among the world’s elite extra virgin olive oils. In the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, Roots and Joy is ranked #32 Spain, Greece, #43 Spain, Greece, #94 Northern Hemisphere and #97 Worldwide.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, widely regarded as the world's leading olive oil quality contest, is a trusted reference for consumers and industry professionals.
