Tropicual earns three Gold Awards at the 2026 NYIOOC

The Spanish producer’s Tropicual Everyday, Tropicual De Sierra and Tropicual De Vega Picual extra virgin olive oils were recognized for quality and consistency.

Jaén and Granada, Spain — Tropicual has been awarded three Gold Awards at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its Tropicual Everyday, Tropicual De Sierra and Tropicual De Vega brands.

Each of the winning selections is a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil produced exclusively from Picual olives, a variety closely associated with eastern Andalusia. Across the trio, Tropicual Everyday, Tropicual De Sierra and Tropicual De Vega are distinguished by a fresh aromatic profile in which tomato leaf and cut grass are complemented by green apple, creating a balanced expression that remains vivid from aroma through finish.

Tropicual brings together the landscapes of Jaén and Granada with a stated emphasis on environmental awareness and sustainable production. Led by Lucía and Albert as a multigenerational family business, Tropicual has built its identity around Picual and a brand name that blends “tropical,” a reference to Granada’s tropical coast, with “Picual,” the company’s featured cultivar. Tropicual has also set an objective of becoming a 100 percent organic producer while focusing on extra virgin olive oils aligned with health and environmental considerations.

The three 2026 Gold Awards add to a growing competition record for Tropicual at the NYIOOC. Tropicual has earned a total of nine Gold Awards and one Silver Award to date, including three Gold Awards and one Silver Award in 2025, along with Gold Awards in 2024, 2023 and 2022.

The 2026 results also bolster Tropicual’s standing in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where Tropicual is ranked #17 in Spain, #53 in the Northern Hemisphere and #55 Worldwide.
