Croatia — Vinarija Birin Winery has been awarded a Gold at the 2026 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Birin Oblica.
Birin Oblica is a medium-intensity extra virgin olive oil produced from the Oblica cultivar. The oil is distinguished by herbal tones layered with vanilla and green tea, lifted by floral aromatics and a pine-seed nuance.
Vinarija Birin Winery is a small winery that produces modern wine from an autochthonic variety found in Dalmatia and has been developing a parallel focus on extra virgin olive oil made from the native Oblica olive. Vinarija Birin Winery owns two hectares of vineyard and 500 Oblica trees, with a stated goal of producing an autochthonic, harmonic-tasting extra virgin olive oil.
The 2026 Gold adds to a growing record for Vinarija Birin Winery at the NYIOOC. Across its participation, Vinarija Birin Winery has earned three Gold Awards and one Silver Award, including a Gold in 2025 as well as earlier recognition in 2022 and 2021.
The result also strengthens Vinarija Birin Winery’s position in the Olive Oil Times World Ranking, where it is ranked #30 in Croatia, #84 in the Northern Hemisphere and #87 Worldwide.
